At Backbeat Motion, we thrive when creative visions collide. The Warehouse (WHSE) played a pivotal role by connecting all the creative teams involved, setting the stage for exceptional collaboration. When Wolverine partnered with Red Bull to launch a custom-designed racing boot for Red Bull's high-energy Scramble Series, we were thrilled to help bring their bold vision to life.
The idea was bold and playful: replacing the powerful off-road side-by-side vehicles featured in Red Bull's Scramble Series with the new Wolverine boots. This creative metaphor highlighted the boot's toughness, precision, and readiness for extreme action.
From the start, Wolverine provided a clear, compelling vision—exactly the kind of challenge we love. We immediately dove into developing a detailed storyboard and animatic, carefully plotting each angle and shot needed to execute the seamless blend of live-action and animation.
Working closely with Aaron Conway, we meticulously planned each high-definition shot to ensure perfection. Aaron expertly captured detailed frames of the Wolverine boots at precise angles, enabling seamless integration into our animation workflow.
Using Photoshop, we isolated and refined every frame, meticulously preparing the visuals for animation. Our animation team employed advanced masking techniques in After Effects to transform Aaron’s stunning photographs into dynamic illustrations. By blending vivid animations with crisp live-action footage, we achieved a seamless wipe transition that vividly demonstrated the boot’s versatility and strength.
The result was a thrilling and immersive hype video that surpassed Wolverine’s expectations. Both the Wolverine and Red Bull teams were delighted with the final video, which effectively captured the bold spirit of the Scramble Series and emphasized the boot’s superior design and performance.
